Our mission is to educate members about the professional skills and strategies for a successful job search, career change, or career advancement in today’s job market. Our primary goal is to assist members to effectively navigate today’s job search process to find their ideal jobs. We do this through a practical and proven curriculum of 12 courses from getting organized all the way through to negotiation after the job offer. Courses are designed to promote the self-evaluation needed for you to successfully complete your job search. (Course Schedule)
The organization is guided by a volunteer Board of Trustees that acts as quasi-staff. (Board Members)
Our Monday Morning MeetUp at 9:30 every week (except major holidays) focus on providing quality content, networking practice and a compelling reason to get-up, get-ready and start your week’s job search work with others of like mind. This is open to the public at no charge and no registration is required. All are welcome! Everyone gives their 30-second speech followed by a speaker on a topic relevant to job seekers. Then the coming week’s course schedule and networking events are shared. Afterwards we have a brief Guest Overview to share how we can help them navigate their career journey.
This may be the only time you’re with a group in which everyone is in the same boat you are. This may be the only organization you ever join in which we want you to leave.

How We OperateCareer Transition Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operated by its members. We have no paid staff. Instructors, Board members, and the Continuity Director are all volunteers mostly former members who strongly believe in CareerTI and in giving back to the organization. This is how we keep our dues low. Dues are $40 per month for the first six months and $25 per month after that. This includes all courses and Monday MeetUps. HistoryIn 1982, three Columbus businessmen started Forty Plus of Central Ohio (our former name) modeling it after Forty Plus of New York. Then you had to be over 40 years old to join. Since that time, we have trained thousands of members on how to find their ideal jobs.
In 2013, we changed our name to Career Transition Institute to better describe what we do and eliminate questions about age. (It also eliminated assumptions that we were an electronic dating group for people over 40).
